How much of what—and where?
In a small shop, “I know what we have on hand” may still work. As order volume and material variety grow, it is easier to forget a purchase or assume stock exists when it is already gone. CutOptix inventory management helps: it gives an up-to-date picture of which panel boards you have and how they move through the warehouse.
The system tackles inventory on two levels. It tracks full panel boards—when new stock arrives, when you pull from it, how much remains. It also tracks smaller cut pieces left after nesting that can still be used on a later job.
Keeping panel stock organized
When new sheets arrive, record quantity, supplier, and key details in a few clicks. When you issue material to a job, log that too. The system prioritizes older receipts first, so it stays clear which batch you are working from.
The overview shows quickly what is sufficient, what is running low, and what is empty. No walking the warehouse to count in your head—the system summarizes where reordering makes sense.
Every movement is traceable. If you need to see when and how much you issued from a given material, history shows it. That supports stocktaking, purchase planning, and spotting gaps between physical stock and records.
Useful offcuts do not get lost
Nesting often leaves pieces that are not waste yet but do not belong back with full sheets. Track them separately—they can be perfect for a smaller order. You can save, label, and reuse these offcuts during optimization.
When an offcut is truly unusable, you can scrap it. If it is still in good shape, the next job may benefit—less new sheet material, lower cost, less waste.
Inventory is only useful if you update it regularly. Record receipts and issues as they happen—not only a bulk catch-up before a big order.
Summary
Inventory management is not admin for its own sake—it is the foundation of reliable operations. When you know quantities and which offcuts are still usable, there are fewer surprises, planning is sharper, and you can take on new orders with confidence.
